The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is a 2012 epic fantasy adventure film directed by Peter Jackson, the same director who also directed the famous film The Lord of the Ring. The story is adaption of the 1937 novel The Hobbit by J.R.R. The three films together will act as prequels to Jackson’s Lord of the Rings and this film An Unexpected Journey is the begining.

The story is set in Middle-earth sixty years before The Lord of the Rings, Unexpected Journey tells the tale of the hobbit Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) who is convinced by the wizard Gandalf  to accompany thirteen dwarves led by Thorin Oakenshield on a quest across Middle-earth to reclaim the Lonely Mountain from the fearsome dragon Smaug.

REVIEW

The story begins from city of Erebor original home of dwarfs attacked by fire breathing dragon, forcing dwarfs nothing but to exile. This event  involving extream violent, death and destruction, engage the audience’s attention and creates the interest towards the film.
Then the film shows the quiet, peace-loving live of hobbit to show the opposite  live of dwarfs and hobbits, in this scene main character Bilbo Baggins and Frodo Baggins are shown to indicate the relation between the two movies the Lord of the Ring and The Hobbit.

Bibo join a party of dwarfs as the teams “burglar” on a journey to regain their lands (Erebor) from the dragon after the meeting held at Bilbo’s house. All planed according to Gandalf because he belived that hobbit Bilbo is a key to success in this quest.
As the story progresses the team encounters orcs, troll, elves and goblins along the way, number actions and CG technologies are used in each scenes which made the scene more realistic and attractive to the viewers.

Personally, I like the scene where all the dwarfs and Gandalf get together at Bilbo’s house and having dinner. Especially after when they finish eating they clean and pack up all the dishes by singing and performing some awesome moves!!
